The hands and the voice of the community. Helping community projects to grow with volunteer and awareness, developing projects, creating new projects that the community needs. We want to create a community resilient and more cooperative.

About

Who we are?

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we connected volunteers with residents through postcode matching through the website www.mutualaid.co.uk. We then used this website ourselves to unite volunteers within Barnet and help other organisations to set up the Food Hub at Claremont Free Church. We distribute food parcels to around 86 people every week, 37 of these people are children, and now we need your help to continue.
Currently, we are delivering small projects in the community and we would like to promote local volunteer projects in the area of Barnet.
We open a new website www.mutualaidbarnet.co.uk where you can see our clear objective now is to be the voice and the hand of the community.
We want everyone's voices to be heard, we need to understand first what people really want to see and how they want to get involved in it.

Creating strong communities

As a result of the pandemic was clear that we need to grow as a community to get stronger communities, being more resilient.

Mutual Aid groups in Barnet help to build these bridges and to continue keeping the community spirit that the World needs.
We create new paperless volunteer opportunities, connecting people with charities and much more

What do we do now?

We set up a surplus group in Hendon that helps the community to don't waste the food from supermarkets.
From this project we want to open a community fridge in the area of Hendon, we just need space and some money to make the project happen.

We provide information to our users of volunteer opportunities that arise in the area.
We want to keep informing our neirboughs of volunteer options available in the area, where they can ask for help and other news from the area through a newsletter.

We are going to plant trees in Hendon park in commemoration of covid victims.
We are running a new campaign in different ways to volunteer, flexible and paperless. You can see our last newsletter https://mailchi.mp/6f7b19f87d53/mutual-aid-whats-next-13623290
or check our website https://mutualaidbarnet.co.uk/volunteer/

How you can get involved in the project?

You can join as a volunteer on our website https://mutualaidbarnet.co.uk/volunteer/
You can help us with social media, fundraising, marketing, project management, community organiser.
Your donation will be important. With donations, we could pay expenses to the volunteers that spend their pocket money for petrol, buy food, food containers, marketing materials to promote our work, snacks, and other tools that we use in our get-togethers and if we get enough funding why not have a physical space where everyone will be free to come and enjoy.
