About

2019 was a year of great change for me.  The world was thrown into the turmoil of pandemic restrictions and uncertainty, and we were learning how to navigate a new normal.  On a smaller scale, our household had been rocked by separation and my struggle with PTSD.  During our first lockdown, as we struggled through the isolation, and unwelcome introspection, I learned more about myself than I ever had in my 42 years.  I was torn between feeling a degree of insanity I was sure needed professional treatment, and a clarity of meaning and purpose that I had never before had.  A long ago message from a dear friend (my daughter's pony - the message delivered via medium) flashed like a beacon in my mind: "Be honest with yourself about who you are."

This drove my initial motivation to realize my dream of sharing the magic of animals as healers and teachers.  Connected Healing began to bloom and bring a new meaning to my life.  I have combined my experience as a teacher, mindfulness councilor and horsewoman to create a service that supports wellbeing in a unique and effective way.

There was another agenda for starting a home business.  My youngest who is now a teen has had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for several years.  I had recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.  Both conditions have not cure and can be debilitating.  I was looking for a way to support my family on my single income, while being able to care for my teen and myself.  As it turns out, Building Connected Healing has been a healing process for me in itself.  My newfound purpose and excitement for its potential to serve others has given me new ways to manage my physical symptoms.  By being Honest with myself about who I am, I have been able to shed the burden, and physical pain, of the expectations of others and myself to be someone else.

Three years later, Connected Healing has supported a small handful of clients through tough changes, to build confidence, and to find their own calm in a busy world.  My vision and passion has grown exponentially as I continue to find new connections and reasons why animals are so important to our wellbeing.

We are consistently challenged by the amount of work there is to do on the property, with the animals and on the business.  My oldest daughter has joined me to ease the load, but with limited finances, we work in a volunteer capacity and occasionally manage to cover our costs after the animals are fed and cared for.  Our fees remain low so as to be as accessible as possible to those who need the service the most, but to be able to fund sessions would mean a wider reach and greater support.  To be able to outsource development work would enable us to create weatherproof spaces and provide a wider range of experiences.

We will continue to work hard to support those we can.
