About

The Marple Mutual Aid initiative is a way of organising people who want to help those who are self-isolating during the Covid19 pandemic. It is not a formal organisation or authority.
People who are self-isolating tell us that it is difficult to pay for shopping over the phone, and many online deliveries are hard to get booked in. But they need food and other items. We don't want volunteers to have to be handling money or people's bank cards so we have created this website so that we can pay back volunteers where they have bought things from their own pocket, and self-isolating people can pay us back for any costs of shopping.
We have used a 'fiscal host' - the Social Change Agency - because this means we don't have to set up as an organisation, and because it was quick. This hasn't cost us anything, and Marple Mutual Aid core team will be the people approving claims etc.
We aren't expecting to raise large amounts of money - this site is mainly a way to reimburse people - but if we do end up with a surplus after the crisis is over we will donate it to a local charity.
