Our accomplishments thus far:
Published on September 23, 2022 by Aire Taylor

First, we gained the IRS’ approval as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit.

Second, we submitted an amicus brief to the California 4th District Court of Appeal in support of the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s (EFF) case against San Bernardino County. We provided arguments to the court against the County Sheriff’s continued deployment of cell tower simulators to clandestinely surveil entire regions of private citizens without publicly viewable search warrants. The full story and our amicus brief can be found on our website, which grows steadily with articles and blog posts written by our hardworking fellows.

Third, we have established an Externship Program that supports graduate and undergraduate students from different schools. We have also offered paid opportunities to two of our graduated fellows.

Fourth, we are currently holding an educational workshop for law students at U.C. Irvine Law.

Fifth, we have been active in networking at tech and law conferences. This year, we attended BSides Las Vegas, DefCon, and we were a sponsoring vendor at the State Bar of Nevada’s Annual Conference.

Sixth, we hosted a successful CLE on privacy laws and careers for Nevada attorneys and had a 50+ turnout.

Seventh, we were awarded a 2022 Foundation Grant from the Nevada Bar Foundation to support our externship program this year.

Eighth, we have successfully helped many people remove their information offline and opt-out of data sales.

We hope to continue to post successful updates this year!
