Fall 2021 - feeling thankful already!
Published on October 23, 2021 by Cheryl J. Rosenberg

Hello, friends of FAVOR!

Sometime in early spring of this year, our food distribution was forced to move from the parking lot of the Bates Elementary School, to the BHA Washington-Beech apartments, and our Archdale site experienced setbacks with food procurement and volunteerism. Since then, we've made so many partnerships with other food access orgs that our whole program has been transformed.

We used to rely on food rescued from local grocery stores and cafés. We never knew what we would be getting, if there would be enough for all the people waiting, or how much would just go straight to compost. We were also wholly reliant on a provider that did not share our values of community and solidarity. Now, when I look at the fresh, local, and culturally-relevant foods we are now able to offer, and I talk with our neighbors about what they cook at home, I feel so immensely blessed.

FAVOR extends our gratitude to the groups that have helped us along the way:
Roslindale Food Collective
Katsiroubas Produce
Trinity Management Company
YMCA of Greater Boston
City of Boston Mayor's Office of Food Access
Project Restore Us
Boston Area Gleaners / Boston Food Hub
NFAC (Neighborhood Food Action Collaborative)
Health Leads / Equitable Boston Food Ecosystem Project
Vital Cxns

Our goal to further health equity across our neighborhood, and ultimately to address the root causes of food insecurity, requires ongoing investments of time and money. We thank you all for continuing to support our work!

In solidarity,
Cheryl, on behalf of FAVOR
