About

The mission of Funds Y’All is to provide fundraising support to meet the essential and non-essential but significant needs to folks of every race, color, gender, sexual orientation, size, ability, and religion, with prioritization given to queer and trans folks and black and indigenous POC. The Funds Y’all team believes that all people deserve access to foods of their choosing, safe and accessible housing, clothing that supports gender expression, choices for how to spend their time, care for family members and household pets, access to means of transportation, and adequate healthcare, including mental healthcare. For this reason, people experiencing deprivation of these needs are prioritized. To serve this purpose, Funds Y’All provides a platform to disseminate information and fundraising content, as well as run a small number of fundraising campaigns internally.

Funds Y’all is a safe space, free from retaliation, with space to make mistakes and pursue personal joy. Funds Y’All runs using a completely horizontal structure. This means that among volunteers, there is no hierarchy, no managers, and no minimum financial or time commitments. We will each hold ourselves accountable for respecting the mission of Funds Y'All.

~~~Community guidelines:
These are some guidelines we'd appreciate it if our followers can respect, so we can keep the page runninng smoothly.
We cannot provide funds directly. We are not an emergency resource provider, and cannot provide funds in an emergency. If you are in an emergency, please contact local resources. The most we can do is share your information/cash handles and suggest other resources that may be useful. Please note FY is volunteer run and we are not able to respond to emergency situations 24/7, nor are we crisis responders.
If you are in Philadelphia/South Jersey, please fill out the google form with your information. Please be aware there is a noteable wait (weeks to months) before we will be able to take on your fundraiser, as our following is still growing, we cannot provide funds directly, and there are many fundraising requests (ie, if you need rent by the 1st and you fill out the form a week before, it's unlikely we will be able to meet that goal).
If you are not in our area of service, please send us your ALREADY MADE post/graphic to share. If you need us to make you a graphic, please let us know, and please also be aware that there may be a wait for this as well.
We are trying to ensure our story does not get too long, as the longer it gets the less attention each request may get, at least that's what we have found. But this is also subject to change based on what works best for those requesting funds hand in hand with what works best for us. We ask that you be patient with us in this, and communicate respectfully with us as you are able. If you ask us to share for you multiple times a day or week, please be aware that we will not be able to share each time or respond to you every time. It is not fair to other people who need us to share for them if we consistently have the same people in the story on a daily basis, as we have found that not much support comes from sharing to our story anyway. We will post out of our service area requests on sundays, but again remember that if you've asked us to share multiple times we may not share or post for you every time.
Please DO NOT COMMENT on someone else's fundraiser post with your mutual aid ask. It is not fair to the person whose post it is as it takes away the focus. If you would like us to share something for you, see the above paragraph.
Please note that if your fundraiser is taken on, it will take awhile to complete. Completion times range from several weeks to several months. We know this is not ideal, but with a relatively small following, and with many of our followers being those who are seeking mutual aid assistance, unfortunately it may take time.
Please do not directly cashapp/venmo/paypal/other money app request from anyone who has contributed to you through our page, even if we only shared your story and did not post you.
We try to keep up with dms. Please make sure to be clear about your request when you are dm'ing us--do you need us to make you a graphic? do you have one already?
We try to keep the story to ~10 posts to ensure each gets attention. The priority will be fundraisers we are running and Philly/PA/SJ fundraisers that we aren't officially taking on.
The purpose of this is to ensure that we share a variety of posts from as many people as possible and that each gets attention. This means if you send us your post/graphic multiple times a day/week, we will not be able to share it every time. But the guidelines about the length of the story is also subject to change based on what works best for those requesting funds hand in hand with what works best for us. We ask that you be patient with us in this, and communicate respectfully with us as you are able. If you ask us to share for you multiple times a day or week, please be aware that we will not be able to share each time or respond to you every time. It is not fair to other people who need us to share for them, or for our own fundraisers, if we consistently have the same people in the story on a daily basis, as we have found that not much support comes from sharing to our story anyway.
We understand many people need large sums of money. We will try to share and post in a way that allows as many people as possible to get featured. We will post out of our service area requests on Sundays, but again remember that if you've asked us to share multiple times we may not share or post for you every time.
If you are not respectful of these guidelines and boundaries (getting upset/speaking disrespectfully to us because you haven't received money or because we are unable to share for you multiple times a day, continually asking us to share for you multiple times a day after we've explained we cannot share for you that many times, disrespecting our boundaries by demanding we help in ways we've already been clear we cannot help, clearly not reading or actively disregarding our guidelines), we reserve the right to end communication with you.
Ways you can help:
Remember to share posts! This helps a LOT. Share multiple times! Share even when the post isn't new! Comment on posts to keep them visible!
Invite people to our page--both those who can provide funds and those who the page might benefit, or both.
You can also host your own fundraising event (like a yard sale), pool from your friends and/or family, or ask your followers on social media to match your $ contribution. Encourage others who are financially able to contribute. Share educational resources.
Mutual aid, community support are a team effort and we need everyone's help. Remember--$5 alone from one person can be helpful, but 100 people giving $5 = $500. Mutual aid with FY needs to be a team effort. We all have something to offer our community, we are all needed.
Let us know if you know of any resources--grants, housing stability opportunities/resources, other fundraising pages/groups, job opportunities, anything that could help uplift others.
Solidarity not charity. When sharing, contributing funds, or interacting with our page, remember to be respectful, whether you are someone seeking funds or someone who is providing funds, or both. The goal of FY mutual aid is to lift each other up and support each person's right to autonomy, respect, and community. That being said, fundraising with us is not guaranteed, and is not a sole, reliable source of income.
We are volunteer run and are trying our best. Things may change as the page grows, and we grow and change ourselves. We appreciate patience and will try to help as many people as we can. Thank you!
Any disrespect or discrimination will not be tolerated, including but not limited to: racism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, biphobia, fatphobia, ableism, xenophobia, classism, educational/academic elitism, ageism. We reserve the right to not share your post or fundraise for you if you are doing any of that shit. Please also remember to exercise patience and respect with us, as we will always try to do the same for you.
