February 2020 Update
Published on February 14, 2020 by Bobby Moss

There won't be a blog post this week because we are hard at work preparing Glimpse Image Editor 0.1.2. We expect to start beta testing next week, and aim to fully release before the end of this month.

Key features include:

  • Updated translations across the board
  • Non-English translations, Python support and an improved installer for Windows users
  • The "Color" icon theme and "Gray" UI theme have been brought back
  • Upstream contributors will be credited in Help > About > Credits
  • Release tarball for Linux /BSD distribution packagers

This was only intended as an errata release that polished 0.1.0, but there are a lot of very exciting changes coming for 0.2.x, such as:

  • Re-basing on GNU Image Manipulation Program 2.10.14
  • Releasing Glimpse Image Editor on the Windows Store
  • Including G'MIC and GIMP Rasterizer plug-ins by default
  • Refactoring libgimp to assist Linux/BSD distribution packagers
  • A port for macOS

Finally, on this "I love Free Software" day we would like to thank all of our contributors, users, donors & followers for making Glimpse Image Editor possible. It is not easy to fork a project and do it well, but we continue to support each other & prove our critics wrong with each new release. ❤️
