Minor delay to Glimpse Image Editor 0.2.0 release date
Published on July 29, 2020 by Bobby Moss

Hi everyone,

Thank you for bearing with us, and it's been great to hear from people that are excited about the upcoming release.

We had originally aimed for Glimpse Image Editor 0.2.0 to arrived before the end of this month, but because one of our contributors was ill for a week we are delayed by roughly that length of time!

There will be updates for the Linux beta builds before Friday evening this week, and we expect the new 32-bit and 64-bit Windows installers to be released around the same time.

We are expecting the stable release to arrive some time next week. There are some very cool things to look forward to:

  • Rebased from 2.10.12 to 2.10.18 (with backported fixes and security updates)
  • A new 64-bit Windows installer that also includes G'MIC by default and the ability to set custom install locations
  • Useful changes ported from PhotoGIMP (eg. keyboard shortcuts that feel more familiar for users of commercial software)

Shortly after 0.2.0 is released, we also intend to provide a Linux AppImage containing a selection of third party plugins preinstalled to assist power users on that platform. We will provide updates later on in August about some of the ideas we have in mind for a future 0.2.2 release.

Thank you for your patience and your contributions. They are deeply appreciated, and we hope this new release will do you proud.

Kind Regards,

The Glimpse Project governance team
