March Resource Center Highlights
Published on March 30, 2022 by Brett

Hello friends!

Our March volunteer-led Resource Center was a total success and tons of fun! We welcomed over 70 guests & about 35 volunteers, and we had approximately 15 different resources/services available! Guests had access to much needed hygiene supplies, medical help, showers, laundry, vaccines, phones, IDs, food stamps, clothing, and so much more! In addition to our regularly provided services, our friends at Palms Unhoused Mutual Aid provided a maker station, where guests and volunteers constructed a hand washing station together and then decorated it. Shout out to LA CAN for creating an easy-to-follow guide to make these! See our first hand washing station created below!

At this resource center, we changed things up a bit by creating a lounge area in the center of our event where guests could mingle, eat food, drink coffee, create art, listen to music, and sing karaoke. We look forward to providing more healing and community building activities at our future resource centers.

One of our event organizers, Jeffrey, spent hours sorting through approximately 20 bags of donated clothing from residents in our local Buy Nothing community. Check out Jeffrey's amazing work in the photos below. To give you an idea of how much clothing we go through in an event, almost ALL of that clothing was gone by the end of the day! Thanks to everyone's donations to our ongoing Clothing Fundraiser, we will be able to supplement our donated clothing next month by providing clothing guests were unable to find in our donated stock (like underwear, socks, bras, more shoes, and hard-to-find sizes). You can donate to this fundraiser by clicking here.

Another addition that we were happy to welcome to our Resource Center was a team of hair stylists! Felipe and his team of hair stylists provided fresh looks for several guests. Check out these cute curls one of our guests opted for.

Our next Resource Center is scheduled for April 16th at St. Bede's Episcopal Church. If you'd like to volunteer for a shift, sign up here.

Thanks so much for your continued support.

In Solidarity,
