Sponsors Update - July 2022
Published on July 4, 2022 by Ruth Cheesley

Hello awesome sponsors of Mautic!

Welcome to July’s update for sponsors on what your support has helped us to achieve last month.

Mautic Conference Global 2022

Of course the biggest thing that happened in June was the Mautic Conference Global 2022 event! Held over two days and using a new-to-us platform, I think we can all agree that it was a great success! We had a range of speakers from within our community and from the email marketing industry, with some really fantastic talks. I can’t wait to share them once we have completed the process to render them.

Airmeet worked really well for us, including a far superior experience for speakers and sponsors to previous years, and as close as I think we can get to a hallway track where you could virtually walk past people and form a huddle of discussions in a virtual video call.

The biggest challenge we faced was attracting sponsors this year, with many organizations only sponsoring in-person events, or having allocated their reduced budget to larger conferences.

This is a challenge we will continue to face as we intend to keep Mautic Conference Global a fully online event - it makes it much more accessible to our worldwide community and gives more opportunities to those for whom traveling the world to attend an event may not be possible.

As a result of the significant shortfall in expected sponsorships, we have had to pull in funds from our reserves to cover the cost of using the event platform (which also gives us a year of the virtual webinars platform used by our local and online meetup groups). This means we will have to adjust the budget accordingly and seek to raise the shortfall if we want to fund all the projects we have planned.

4.4.0 release

Last week we released Mautic 4.4.0 - an out of cycle release which was made to ensure that we could offer PHP 8.0 support to people who were using Mautic 4.x. This allows Mautic users a bit more breathing space to update to Mautic 5 when it is released, as security support for PHP 7.4 ends in just a few months.

Much of this work was powered by your generosity, as it took place during last month’s Community Sprint and the previous month’s Mautic Developer Day events.

What’s coming up?

Mautic Conference South America 2022

We announced at Mautic Conference Global 2022 that our next in-person event will be Mautic Conference South America, hosted in São Paulo, Brazil in early November.

We will shortly be announcing the dates and opening a call for sponsors and speakers.

We aim to have one track available in English and there will also be live translations to/from Spanish and Portuguese.

We hope to see you there!

Mautic 5.0

Time is marching on and we are fast approaching the release of Mautic 5.0, with support for PHP 8.1 and Symfony 5 as well as some new features and improvements to Mautic.

A lot of work has already been done but there are some large areas remaining which we are planning to focus on in the next two months. We may organize some informal sprints to get things moving faster.

Mautic fringe events at DrupalCon Prague

In September we are planning to organise several fringe events at and around the DrupalCon Prague event, and there are several Mautic-themed sessions at the event. We will be sharing more details closer to the time, but if you are thinking about attending we would love to have you join us!

Thanks again for supporting the growth of Mautic, we really appreciate your contributions!
