Monteverde Friends School - Caminata 2022

Monteverde Friends School is a Quaker K-12 school in the cloud forests of Costa Rica. We provide high-quality bilingual education with an emphasis on Quaker testimonies of peace, community, environmental stewardship, and social justice. Though we do have some international exchange students and expat families, more than 90% of our student body is made up of local Costa Rican students. The education we provide is life-changing, both in building students' personal values and providing a wide range of opportunities for post-secondary education and employment.

Every year, we do a Walk-a-thon (Caminata) that raises money in the community to support our annual fund. The majority of our annual fund is used to cover scholarships for our students. Over half of our students need financial support to be able to attend school, and the amount of relief needed has increased significantly since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. My goal for this fundraiser is to raise enough money for the annual fund to cover one full scholarship for a high school student (grades 7-12) for the upcoming fiscal year.
