November Update!
Published on December 5, 2022 by Jenna L

Dear all,

Thank you for your continued support of our project. With your contributions and solidarity, our work is made possible!

In November, Mutual Aid Books continued to support our friends and comrades from COVID19 Mutual Aid and Uprooted & Rising Seattle at their monthly pantry. We delivered books for children in both English and Spanish, as well as some books on NW food, foraging, and plant life.

It was also great to see so many of you back at The Station on November 12th, where we did a small pop-up for the first time in a while! It felt so good to be back at our “regular spot” spreading radical book joy and we’re looking forward to being out and about more in 2023 with more frequent and regular tabling opportunities! Keep an eye on our socials for more details on where to find us.

On November 20th, we gathered for Fall Retreat Part 2, where new and veteran members together revisited MAB’s statements of purpose and took time to discuss specific projects and action items.

We came out of Part 2 of our retreat with renewed focus and energy for projects we’ll be working on this coming year. We won’t spoil too much yet, but we’re excited to put our focus towards three areas: building a consistent tabling presence (we love you, community!), sharing political education (with a new project coming this winter – stay tuned!), and standing in solidarity with systems-impacted folks.

It was really great to share books, conversations, and warmth at the Mutual Aid Fair on November 29th hosted by Stop the Sweeps. It was an especially cold and rainy Seattle evening, so it was great to be present with other mutual aid organizations to build community and share resources.

Finally, some collective members were able to attend the amazing Holiday Card-Making Party for Trans & Queer Prisoners organized by Beyond These Walls and Black and Pink on December 3rd. Thanks for hosting, Pipsqueak!

As always, we deeply appreciate your solidarity. If you have any questions or feedback, send us an email at seamutualaidbooks (at) gmail.com.

Stay warm and stay safe out there! In solidarity,

–Alex, Concrete, and the rest of the MAB team
