question about ways to deal with trolling

Hi all,
First of all thank you for providing this amazing platform. We recently published the following open letter from Berlin in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
https://openletter.earth/berlin-nightlife-workers-against-apartheid-cd96844d
unfortunately as the letter gained traction there has been increasingly vile and ferocious trolling in the usual line of equating critique of Israel with antisemitism or Islamic fundamentalism. People have been signing with a range of colorful fake names from Hitler and Goebbels to members of ISIS etc. Although the signature are obviously not verified (as are many real names unfortunately) it is still a big problem that they still appear. I wanted to ask for suggestions about the possibility of removing fake names or any other way to tackle the situation.

all the best,
roozbeh

I also came here to say this.

Also, may of us have tried to reach the people behind the letter (hi Roozbeh).

The fake signatories are extremely offensive, hate filled, racist and antisemitic.
Unless they can be moderated and removed - I would strongly suggest that BNWAA remove the letter from this platform and start again on another platform that actually ensures only real signatures.

This issue darkly undermines the importance of this letter, and the big risk many people are taking in Germany putting their names to this letter, which goes against the beliefs of people who would paint them as antisemitic for their support.

Thank you.

Hi,
So we are moving the letter to another platform. Is there anyway to remove it from here?
thanks a lot

Hi, were you able to remove the letter? I posted a letter that I need to either edit or remove and have no idea how?!

The letters have been removed.

We have also changed the default behavior to avoid trolling.
Now, unverified signatures are not showing up by default.

Sorry I meant this letter I posted yesterday: https://openletter.earth/fairness-for-foreign-students-and-equity-for-maternity-leave-43399aaa
So just to confirm it's not possible to edit letters?

Ah ok, removed.

Indeed, the idea is that you just create new versions. The only version that matters is the one that you share as no one can guess what the url is.

It would be good to add more features such as editing, removing, etc. But right now I'm the only developer volunteer and I don't have the bandwidth.

Out of curiosity, how did you hear about this service and why are you using it compared to other tools?

Thanks Xavier! I'm impressed what you've done solo and can totally understand the bandwidth problem :-)

To answer your question -- I was looking for a place to post a letter that people could sign but was not a petition like change.org. As you say I'm not interested in many people signing it just the right people (our academic community).
