August Gratitude
Published on September 13, 2022 by Kathryn Nolan

Hello Fridge Friends! We can't believe it's already back-to-school season -- and we're feeling extra grateful for an awesome August.

We raised $3,983 in the month of August! This includes receiving a grant from PENN Medicine for $750 and an amazing fundraiser at Tattooed Mom's for $525.

We spent $3,606 which included $181.07 for anniversary party supplies and the remaining $3,425 on filling our fridge and pantry locations with food.

We reimbursed 34 fridge fill trips,
which includes shopping trips that fill multiple fridges. We recorded a total of 121 fridge fills in August which only includes fridge fills completed with donor funds or large donations. The fills are as follows:
People’s Kitchen: 21 filled days
BOK: filled 24 days
Cleveland St: 14 filled days
DiSilvestro: 18 filled days
Mifflin Square: filled 20 days
Point Breeze: filled 24 days

On August 19th we celebrated our second anniversary!

As Mariame Kaba said, "everything worthwhile is done with other people." Our second anniversary party was incredible -- we were joined by John's Water Ice, saw the debut of community activist Lindo Yes's poetry gum ball machine, got temporary tattoos, decorated cupcakes and ate so many soft pretzels. Two years of community, multiple fridge and pantry locations all across South Philly, and a whole group of neighbors helping neighbors. We couldn't do it without all of you!

We were also thrilled to be chosen as the nonprofit partner for the Philly 10K and we had volunteers representing at multiple events leading up to, and during, the race. We're counting down the days until we can share how much money was raised and are so grateful to have been chosen!

Thank you for making this August so special -- here's to the last two years of abundance and to many, many more. See ya around the block!
