Segrigate waste in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka.

About

 Introduction
Trash For Trade is a non-profitable social enterprise, dedicated to reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainability through recycling and plastic alternative eco friendly products. It is a community-based program that aims to promote sustainable waste management practices by encouraging individuals to properly sort and recycle their waste. Our goal for this campaign is to complete the construction of a collection and segregation workspace which was stopped due to the post COVID and Financial crisis in 2019 which will be easy for community to properly dispose of their waste and to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills.

Background
Waste management is a growing concern in Sri Lanka, with a significant amount of waste going to landfills and causing environmental pollution. This not only harms the environment but also poses a health risk to the community. To address this issue, Trash For Trade aims to create a collection and segregation workspace that will make it easy for people to properly dispose of their waste.

Proposal
The proposed collection and segregation workspace is to complete the half constructed, with a total budget of 500,000 Sri Lankan rupees. The space will be designed to accommodate the sorting and recycling of various types of waste, including plastic, paper, glass, metal, and organic waste. The program will be run by trained personnel who will ensure that all waste is properly sorted and recycled.

Design and Layout
The workspace will be divided into different sections for each type of waste, with clear signage and instructions for easy use. The sorting and recycling process will be supervised by trained personnel who will ensure that all waste is properly sorted and recycled. The layout of the workspace will be designed to minimize the risk of contamination and to promote efficiency in the sorting and recycling process.

Equipment and Materials
The workspace will be equipped with all necessary tools and materials for sorting and recycling. This will include bins, gloves, and other protective gear for the personnel, as well as equipment for crushing and shredding waste. The equipment will be regularly maintained to ensure that it is in good working condition and that it is able to effectively sort and recycle waste.

Budget
The total budget for the proposed collection and segregation workspace is 500,000 Sri Lankan rupees. This will cover the cost of construction, equipment, and personnel. The budget will also include a provision for regular maintenance and repairs, as well as for the purchase of additional equipment and materials as needed.

Implementation
The proposed collection and segregation workspace will be implemented in phases, with the first phase focusing on the construction of the workspace and the purchase of equipment and materials. The second phase will focus on the training of personnel and the launch of the program. The program will be launched with a public awareness campaign to educate the community about the benefits of proper waste management and the importance of sorting and recycling waste.

Conclusion
The proposed collection and segregation workspace will play a crucial role in promoting sustainable waste management practices within the community. It will also create job opportunities and promote environmental awareness among the citizens. The program will be a significant step towards achieving a cleaner and greener future. With the total budget of 500,000 Sri Lankan rupee and a proper implementation, the program will be able to make a positive impact on the community and the environment.
