UKRAINE WAR ARCHIVE — is an online platform that collects and preserves video and audio evidence of the Russia-Ukraine War. Primary users of the platform are litigators, journalists, governmental organisations, NGOs, war researchers, and filmmakers.
Our platform provides the tools for collecting, analysing, verifying, and preserving first-hand digital evidence of the war in Ukraine. Thanks to its unified data storage and tagging system, UWA merges multimedia files from different sources to optimise research and enable efficient cross-referencing. Most material is collected from direct sources and is therefore exclusive UWA content. However, we have also developed an aggregation system which automatically downloads open source material from various Telegram channels, including pro-Russian propaganda channels, so that external data is made available alongside ours to better inform archive searches. Users have access to the archive via a secure VPN tunnel after providing authorised credentials, and via an approved device.
Once approved, users can navigate through the content cards available to them (according to their level of access).
Users can browse the card descriptions and view multimedia files categorised by location, date, source, keywords (list of 270 keywords), war crime (in unified categories), method of filming (interview, CCTV, drone etc), file type (video, audio, photo, document), notes, attached documents (transcriptions, translations), military unit (incl. their respective locations on certain dates), or card IDs.
Our tagging system for all analysed data facilitates easy cross-referencing so users can build studies/cases according to the availability of evidence.
Searches can be narrowed down with a few filters, or widened if needed.
