we're running out of money :(

Dear neighbors,
Happy summer! It’s been great to see more members of our community out and about, enjoying the weather, and we hope you’re finding ways to relax and enjoy this season.
We’re writing to our community today to ask for your help. Thanks to your donations & many other forms of support, we’ve been able to meet urgent community needs for over two years – including biweekly grocery delivery to 150 households, and weekly outreach to 120 unhoused neighbors. Both are survival programs that address immediate needs, as well as platforms through which we build solidarity as the groundwork for organizing and advocacy.
However, we are running out of money. Ward 2 Mutual Aid currently only has the funds to remain operational for one more month.
Can you help us invite more neighbors to become monthly donors? Even $5 a month makes a huge difference. If enough of our neighbors can support monthly, at any level, we can cover all of our programs, powered by the strength of solidarity in our community!
Here’s how you can help – including a few that don’t cost anything!
- Become a monthly donor on our Open Collective page!
- Share about W2MA on social media (we’re on IG and Twitter) and invite people to give via our Open Collective page!
- Write to or talk with a friend or neighbor about why you give to W2MA, and invite them to join you!
- Some of our community members have held birthday fundraisers, asked their teammates or co-workers to support, held mini letter-writing campaigns … if you’re interested in fundraising on our behalf & want to brainstorm ideas, reply to this email & we’ll be happy to help!
- Forward this email to someone you think might be interested in W2MA’s work, and invite them to donate.
As you’ve heard us say before, mutual aid is a form of political participation in which people take responsibility for caring for one another, and this involves working to redistribute wealth! Thank you for being a part of this work & for fighting for our community.
