Guaranteed Income Makes Life Easier

Womanist Working Collective is proud to share that through the partnership with our fiscal sponsor, Wildseed Society, we are capable of offerings to three people of $200/month through the O ni Owo Solidarity Transfer, a WWC guarantee income project .
O ni Owo in Yoruba means "to have money". Said quickly, its meaning changes to "to be wealthy". Through the O ni Owo Solidarity transfer, we're not just lifting some of the allostatic load that Black women, femmes, and gender expansive people have when they're organizers and caregivers, we are infusing additional camaraderie and community into their lives through their involvement with Womanist Working Collective.
Womanist Working Collective's Safety Net(work) is the reason that the O ni Owo Solidarity Transfer exists. Safety Net funds came slowly and was distributed quickly. During COVID, money flowed freely to many organizations and financial mutual aid was abundant. As time went on, that slowed. There were times when Safety Net(work) was funded to the tune of $10,000, and the people who signed up exhausted funds in less than three hours. We always knew the funding needed to be more consistent and sustainable; Safety Net(work) gave us hard examples. It is still a project which offers first come first serve emergency funds of up to $500 annually to those in need when we have funding. Our hope is that the O ni Owo Solidarity Transfer will further validate the need for higher monthly amounts for O ni Owo and more consistent funding for Safety Net(work).
Wildseed Society saw the vision and understood the need. We're proud that they're not only our fiduciary but also our first funder. We look forward to bringing more ease into the lives of our community members, and building deeper, trust-based relationships with additional funders so that this all happens more regularly.
