Spring update
Published on April 4, 2025 by Florian Verdonck

Hey F# Folks,

It's been a while since we last updated you, so we wanted to give you a quick rundown of what's been happening.

Our online sessions on open-source F# projects are still running. We've shifted from weekly to more of a monthly thing, but we're still managing to do more than one session a month on average. If you're keen, jump in and help us out by running a session or sharing something cool!

On the money front, we're kinda stuck. We've got some cash in reserve, but not enough to do anything significant. Our idea of paying people to write code hasn't really taken off. Basically, we can't offer anything close to a real job, and the work we're thinking about is often tougher than your average dev's day-to-day tasks.

We also considered a conference or retreat, but that's a ton of work, and we barely have enough to cover flights, let alone anything else.

Merch was another thought, but it felt a bit underwhelming. Would a T-shirt make anyone feel better about F# OSS projects being dead? Probably not.

So, we're not comfortable asking for monthly donations anymore. Since our plans for the money haven't worked out, there's no point in filling up a jar of broken dreams.

We've asked Open Collective to stop all monthly donations, which should happen in early April. If you want to cancel your recurring support now, feel free.

On a brighter note, we're still around and happy to chat if you've got any questions.

Amplified greetings,

David, Edgar, Florian & Jimmy
