Held at
Awatea Community Garden 12 noon Saturday 17 October.

Present: Rahera Matiaha-Rangi, Paula Macewan, Ruth Robertson-Taylor, John Wright, Dee Smylie.

Apologies: Richard Witheford-Smith

1.    Saturdays. Proposed to open up the garden, to more than the parents’ group that Dee organises. She’s comfortable with it, provided other people are accepting of her group’s kids. Rah happy to manage the Saturday mornings and into the afternoon if necessary and has been doing so for several weeks.
2.    Managing the funds of the Ranui Residents Association (RRA).  Their offer is for us to manage the funds, with a separate project set up to use, mainly for payment to a contractor for upkeep of the orchard in Mungavin Ave.  RRA will allow us to transfer $500 of the $5,300 to our Awatea garden account. Note that the Gift Collective, which manages all our income and expenditure, charges an admin fee of 8% of the initial deposit ($424) and there will be a processor payment fee of $1.68 for each payment. Our involvement would be to load invoices or expense claims, get these approved by someone from RRA and ensure payment is made. Possibly a regular report also. Action: John to discuss process with Richard.
3.    Kaicycle Urban Farm Hua Parakore Verification Celebration. We’ve been invited to celebrate with them from 11.00 am-1.30 pm Saturday 14 November. Bring kai to share. At least 4 of us will go. Action: John to reply from the Awatea email address confirming we’ll attend. Meet: at the Awatea garden at 10.00 am and carpool into 5 Hospital Rd, Newtown.
4.    Allocation of plots & terrace use. Rah has numbered all the plots and will manage their allocation to avoid any disputes. There will be no individual usage of the terraces, they’ll be for communal planting, weeding and gifting of food.
5.    Wharewera / Hot house. Seedlings growing nicely, sign mounted to say this is a communal area, not for private plantings.
6.    Soil Sovereignty event. Is tentatively scheduled by Corey or Saturday 28 November for us and any local invitees.
7.    Porirua Compost Collective. Has been successfully going for a month, we apparently get paid for doing this, first invoice sent to Wesley.
8.    Security camera. Built and ready to be installed. Dan is just back from overseas, has made contact and once ground is hard enough for the truck to get in will install the mounted concrete block.
9.    Funding from DIA/NZ Lotteries for Kaiwhakahaere. Action: John to check on application closing date for next year.
