Project Kick-off: Official Fiscal Hosting & Strategic Partnerships in Ukraine
Published on April 9, 2026 by incognito
Hello supporters and open-source community,
We are thrilled to announce several major milestones for the Batear project as we scale up our drone detection efforts!
1. Official Fiscal Hosting by Open Source Collective (OSC) 🛡️
Batear has been officially approved and welcomed by the Open Source Collective. This partnership provides us with a transparent, non-profit financial infrastructure (501(c)(3)). This means every donation is now tax-deductible for US donors and handled with the highest level of accountability.
2. Strategic Collaboration in Ukraine 🇺🇦
We have established a direct technical link with telematics and radio frequency experts in Ukraine. To overcome logistics and export hurdles, we have shifted to a "Digital-First" deployment strategy.
- We provide the open-source firmware and technical blueprints.
- Our partners procure hardware (LILYGO T-ETH-Lite-S3) locally for immediate field testing.
3. Hardware Evolution: Moving to PoE & Professional Sensors 🛠️
To combat electronic jamming on the front lines, we are transitioning to a wired (Power over Ethernet) architecture. Our latest builds will feature the ICS43434 MEMS microphone, offering superior signal quality for acoustic drone detection.
What’s Next?
A fresh batch of S3 hardware is arriving at our Taipei lab this week. We will be finalizing the wired firmware and sharing the first set of field data with our Ukrainian partners shortly.
Thank you for your 180+ stars on GitHub and for believing in this mission. Let’s make open-source defense a reality.
Stay tuned for more updates!
