The foundation has received a large donation from Spiral. We’d like to express our deep gratitude for the continued support of the mission to support designers and builders who help push the user experience and adoption of bitcoin and related technologies forward. The design community and foundation would not exist without them. 

Spiral spearheaded grants to designers in the open-source bitcoin ecosystem. With this new donation, Spiral is moving to supporting the Bitcoin Design Foundation to independently issue grants relating to design and user research. Four of the currently active Spiral design grants are ending soon and grantees are encouraged to apply for new grants with the foundation.

While the foundation now has more funds and grant applicants than ever, we also have more responsibility, as few other entities give grants to open-source bitcoin designers. We hope to help expand this circle further, both through awareness of our mission, and the introduction of great design grantees to other sponsor organizations when relevant.
