Budgie 10.10 Released, Future Is 11
Published on January 10, 2026 by Joshua Strobl
Hey all,
Everyone on the team is excited to finally be getting Budgie 10.10 out the door to all of you. This release marks our official migration from X11 to Wayland. It's truly a major moment for the project and for Budgie, rounding out over a decade of Budgie 10 development.

This release is the last "series" of releases for Budgie 10.10. We will be maintaining (primarily bug fixes and continued improvements to Wayland support) it while we work on Budgie 11, but FINALLY we can focus on Budgie 11.
We'll be publishing a blog post for State of the Budgie tomorrow diving a bit deeper into some of our plans for 11, but it's still very early days, so you can expect more updates on it regularly.
I'd also like to mention that, related to Budgie 11, we'll have something very special for OpenCollective backers in the future (something something future ISOs from CI/CD pipelines?). So keep an eye out for blog posts where we start cobbling those together!
