New build: Allotment + a Bouricius MCP, the wiki, and our first Demo Day (July 3)
A few things shipped across the Club this month, and our first Demo Day is coming up. Here's where to find them.
Allotment: a fair-sortition engine
Allotment is a new open-source tool for running democratic lotteries: the random, stratified selection behind citizens' assemblies, juries, and review panels. It uses a maximin algorithm, so everyone who volunteers gets as fair a chance as the representativeness quotas allow, and it keeps an audit trail so a selection can be checked afterward rather than taken on trust. It ships with a Harmonica adapter and presets drawn from Terry Bouricius's multi-body sortition design. Python/FastAPI and React, AGPL-3.0. Issues and contributions are open.
Book Power: Democracy Without Politicians, as an MCP
The newest Book Power build turns Terry Bouricius's Democracy Without Politicians: Government By the People (Routledge, 2026) into a tool AI agents can query. With the author's permission, it returns his actual words rather than AI-generated summaries; every answer is a verbatim passage, attributed. Code is at github.com/zhiganov/democracy-without-politicians-mcp, and the book is open access (CC BY-NC-ND) on Taylor & Francis.
The wiki keeps growing
Our public knowledge base now runs to more than 80 pages: a free resource for citizens on the tools, protocols, and practices behind collective self-rule. Read it at citizen-infra.netlify.app, and open a pull request if you want to add to it.
Our first Demo Day: Friday, July 3
Come see what people build when the tools belong to them. Friday, July 3, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM EDT, on Zoom. The lineup includes Gardens not Platforms (move your files off the cloud in one prompt), Compass Suite (run a site through 100+ usability checks), Book Power, deliberation mapping of real public assemblies, and Collaboration under Constraint. Register on Luma, or read more at the Demo Days site.
