The tapwater tastes like excrement

 

Two of Reno’s unsung heroes have recently faced immense hardship—first from severe plumbing and water issues in their home, and then from a devastating robbery. After months of pleading with their landlord to fix ongoing plumbing and water issues, the conditions became such a serious health and safety hazard that they could no longer remain in their home. During their temporary absence, the house was broken into (perhaps camped in). Their belongings were ransacked, many cherished possessions stolen or destroyed, and—most painfully—the sense of safety they once felt within their own walls was shattered. 

These two have devoted countless hours to serving our community—especially the unhoused, but truly anyone in need. They never ask for help, because helping others is who they are. But now, it’s our turn to step up for them. 

We are asking for contributions to provide financial relief, even though they are reluctant to accept it. Our hope is that these funds will allow them to move into a safer, more secure home where they can begin to rebuild their peace of mind. No one should have to live in fear of having their home violated. Please, Reno, let’s come together to lift them out of this unsafe situation so they can return to doing what they do best: helping others. 

All proceeds—minus CC processor fees (avoidable with cash/wire option)—will go directly to their recovery, to be used at their discretion. Northern Nevada Community Support is 100% volunteer-run, with zero funds going to overhead or wages. Every dollar you give goes straight to helping them heal and move forward.
