Mutual Aid for Micky Metts

Micky is a giver in the truest sense of the word!
She asks everyone she meets: how can I help or support you?   
Through her kindness, she lifts each one of us up.  Let us mirror her gracious spirit and lift Micky up during her time of need, until her health insurance takes responsibility.

Background:
Micky is a beloved elder. She and her cooperative home were recently victimized by a roommate (now former roommate) who caused approximately $2500 in damages not including the replacement of furniture, like the bed and dresser, etc. She is currently surviving without full health insurance coverage and has a few expensive prescriptions for Asthma and Congestive heart failure as well as other medical needs. She is working reduced time with her cooperative now because of health issues.

Micky fosters a wonderful, cooperative spirit amongst the people in her life. Collective care and wellbeing are her highest priorities. I was fortunate enough to experience Micky’s generosity when I lived with her during a personally difficult period. After all that she has done to support me and our community with steadfast love and grace, I feel compelled to ask those of us reading this to help Micky as she goes through her own medical and financial difficulties.

Micky truly is a "community bridge" and I am grateful to be in community with her. Her wisdom, love, and giving spirit has had a lasting impact on my life. I was introduced to Micky through another community member I met while on a trip to Ghana. After being introduced, I've had countless impactful conversations with Micky. It's refreshing to meet an Elder who has lived the life Micky has, an activist that has and continues to stand firm in her convictions. Even in our appeal to Micky to allow her community to support her, she agreed, but asked that we develop it into a template that can be replicated for others in need as well. I ask that you join us in supporting our Elder in this time of need. One quick reminder, mutual aid and collective organizing preceded the current toxic systems that greatly impact many of us and they will also remain as these current system continue to fail.

My mentor, Micky Metts, is an amazing person that I'm blessed to be in community with. She has such a big heart and when I tell her that the way she carries her self in community is so caring and kind she tells me that's just normal .. kind is the standard with her .. what other way is there to be she says :) Touche Micky, Touche
