Beyond Just a Game: How Bingo and Tangram Foster Cognitive Health in Our Laboratory
Published on June 2, 2026 by Serhii Zlotnikov
Dear Friends and Supporters,
This is Aleksandr Zimovets, co-administrator and project leader at the "Creativity Laboratory Ahtme." Today, I want to share a profound observation from our direct fieldwork with senior participants.
During our recent sessions, we introduced a classic game — Bingo (Lotto). In the beginning, the challenge was clear: many participants frequently made mistakes, missed numbers, and struggled to keep up with the pace. It was a visible reflection of the cognitive challenges that come with age.
However, as we continued to play week after week, a beautiful transformation began to unfold. The change was gradual but undeniable. Our participants became significantly more focused, organized, and attentive. But the most heartwarming shift wasn't just in the numbers — it was in the atmosphere. The seniors started talking, laughing, and actively communicating with each other during the game. It became easier for them to play, and the cognitive strain turned into joyful engagement.
This experience proved to us that what looks like "just a game" is actually a powerful tool for cognitive therapy and maintaining mental agility. It improves focus, memory, and social connection simultaneously.
Seeing these real, tangible results, we have decided to actively look for sponsors and partners to help us expand our gaming therapy program. Our goal is to introduce new, specialized tools for cognitive health — such as Tangram puzzles and other strategic board games. Expanding this library will allow us to design even more effective, tailored sessions for our elderly friends.
Thank you for standing with us as we work to protect the mental vitality and joy of seniors in our community!
Warm regards,
Aleksandr Zimovets
