About
Nourhan is a mother of two young children, Najat and Mohammed. Her family has been displaced many times, losing their house and everything they owned.
Nourhan says:
I am Nourhan, 26 years old from Beit Lahia in Gaza, a mother of two children, ages 4 and 2. A girl and a little boy. I live inside Gaza in this deadly war. Right now located in Rafah. I suffer from war trauma, homelessness, death, escaping missiles, completely life changing. I had beautiful dreams of me, my husband and my children and a beautiful little house that held all my memories, but the occupation ended these memories. It completely destroyed my house and my memories. I have nothing left, not even clothes. I am in a tent that lacks all humanity. I was not able to leave my house with any belongings or clothes. The house is destroyed. My dreams and beautiful memories were destroyed. My husband lost his job and we now live homeless without any money or belongings in Rafah.
My children do not have clothes in this cold, knowing that my children have chronic allergies. This war affected them negatively. The tent lacks personal hygiene in particular the smell of missiles and the smell of rubble and the dust affected them negatively. For example, my child is currently suffering from constant pain in her stomach. There is no treatment, not even medical tests. I know what she is suffering from.
My child cries day and night, wanting to return to her nursery with her friends. She cries over her toys. She does not know that our house was bombed and her toys were gone, and that her nursery was bombed and her friends were doomed to death. What is the fault of my children? We need your help to provide us with the necessities of life and to provide my children with milk, food and Pampers, and clothes other than the worn out clothes they wear, and some money to support ourselves in light of the outrageous prices and the difficult war.
Thank you for these sincere feelings. I do not know what my fate will be after the end of this war. My fate is unknown. Never forget us, we are not numbers here. I hope that the war will end as soon as possible. Destruction, death and disease are unspeakably widespread.
Nourhan's family have had several close calls and terrifying, traumatic experiences over the last year. During the 'ceasefire' they lived in a camp near their old home, but they were violently displaced again on the 18th March. They lost their tent and everything they had collected and had to begin again from nothing. In April, Nourhan had to rush Mohammed to hospital with a serious asthma attack.
