Accountability report for the annual general meeting of frekonale e.V. on May 29, 2020 - by Friederike Abitz
Published on June 9, 2020 by Friederike Abitz

"Dragon Dreaming International Website & Platform" is an initiative of several individuals to maintain and develop the website www.dragondreaming.org. We have been part of frekonale e.V. since July 18, 2019. We are a "structural initiative" , which means that we take care of the infrastructure of the website www.dragondreaming.org and it’s basic content. Additional content is contributed by individuals and local Dragon Dreaming initiatives. The "Dragon Dreaming International Website & Platform" initiative thus limits its activities to the essentials and leaves it up to other groups and initiatives to represent the global and local Dragon Dreaming communities.

Who are the people behind this initiative?

Between July 18, 2019 and March 15, 2020 Andreas Boegner (Germany), Daniel Körner (Austria), Friederike Abitz (Belgium / Germany) and Ravi Resck (Portugal / Brazil) were part of this initiative. In March 2020, Andreas Boegner said goodbye to devote himself full-time to his work in geomancy. The team has since welcomed Julia Ramos Puente (Spain) as a new member of this initiative. She joined on May 19, 2020.

Thus the current team consists of Julia Ramos Puente (Spain) Daniel Körner (Austria), Friederike Abitz (Belgium / Germany) and Ravi Resck (Portugal / Brazil).

What happened last year? What can we report?

It is a success for us that the website www.dragondreaming.org is no longer owned by an individual, but by a non-profit association whose values and orientation correspond to those of Dragon Dreaming. frekonale e.V. (which became Wandelbündnis e.V. on May 29th, 2020) is a registered German non-profit organization that represents “Dragon Dreaming International Website & Platform” in legal and financial matters.

In November 2019, the website fell victim to an automated hacker attack because the WordPress programming of the website was outdated and therefore offered several security holes. Fortunately, no personal information was stolen. We secured the content of the website and first put a simplified website with minimal yet essential content online.

Furthermore, we have set up various options to have the maintenance of the website and our activities financially supported by the global Dragon Dreaming Community:

We use the OpenCollective platform (www.opencollective.com), on the one hand to provide convenient ways to make one-off and monthly donations via this platform; on the other hand, we use OpenCollective to ensure financial transparency. Any income and expenditure can be viewed via OpenCollective for anyone with internet access and a free OpenCollective account for individuals.

What is now to be done is to go out into communication. The plan is to get back in touch with the people who were previously registered via the platform, to learn about their wishes and needs in regard to the website and platform, and to invite them to make financial contributions.

What happened within the initiative?

We have created internal structures so that we can work well together.

A Karrabirdt on Kumu.io (https://kumu.io/dravis/dd-network-karabirrdt) helps us to keep an overview of what we have planned and can also be viewed publicly, so that the international Dragon Dreaming Community gets an insight into what we're up to and gives an opportunity to welcome new contributors.

A task list in Asana.com and project planning in GANTT format complete our project management.

We strive to make ourselves replaceable and to make the "Dragon Dreaming International Website & Platform" initiative sustainable and resilient. Therefore, we are currently making our internal knowledge and experience in how we work with each other explicit in form of a governance.

What do our finances look like?

In 2019 we received a donation of € 350 from Ilona Koglin (Dragon Dreaming Trainer from Hamburg). First of all, we can use it to finance bank account fees, web hosting and setting up the various payment services to be able to receive donations conveniently.

Any effort that we personally contribute in the form of time, energy, knowledge and experience is currently being done on a voluntary basis.

In the 1st quarter of 2020, we were able to benefit from the structure of frekonale e.V. (now Wandelbündnis e.V.). A Dragon Dreaming Facilitation was given (by Andreas Sallam) and the non-profit organization was paid for it. A portion of this incoming money went to our initiative.

In the future we see the potential to apply for funding through the association in order to support the activities of this initiative in a more sustainable way.

Also, we want to reactivate the Dragon Dreaming Practitioners who were already registered on the old website to contribute financially for the benefit of www.dragondreaming.org.
