Pass Along Your P-EBT Campaign

Por Favor! Please support neighbors and pass along your P-EBT to FAVOR.

During the pandemic, food insecurity doubled. More than 1 in 8 people are food insecure in our region. And there is an even higher rate of hungry children in Boston neighborhoods!  Because of this high percentage of need in the district, every BPS family got funds in the P-EBT program, even if they were not in need. It is a smart and efficient way to help. We want to help redirect the small percentage of unneeded funds back to fight food insecurity.

This summer, please spend your P-EBT funds!  The card is very easy to use—it can even be done online or at Farmers' Markets. It would be a shame to let the funds go to waste. Find resources below on how to check your totals and spend the funds. Then, if you are not food insecure, por favor, donate the funds to Food Access Volunteers of Roslindale!

What is the goal?

Food Access Volunteers of Roslindale (aka FAVOR) is a volunteer-run network connecting Roslindale, Mattapan, and Hyde Park area neighbors to food resources, collaborating with several local mutual aid groups and operating a weekly fresh grocery program at a BHA complex (program details below). The P-EBT and other gov't programs don't meet every need for those in Boston facing food insecurity (and other related issues of poverty and racism like affordable housing and childcare), so mutual aid from FAVOR fills critical gaps.

Our goal is to encourage 10 local families to donate their $187.50 payment in August. We hope for a total of $2,000 for the Pass Along the P-BET campaign launch!

We need the funds to purchase fresh food weekly with your donations. Many of our free food sources have dried up, and we can't rely only on recovered foods. We also want to provide more culturally appropriate and healthy food consistently.

Using this fantastic open collective platform, you will transparently see how all your donated funds are spent (no recent transactions are there as of July, as we are spending a city grant down). The website takes a very low fee for processing donations compared to most fundraising sites. Wow! Your funds will go right to work purchasing fresh healthy food! The donation is also tax-deductible (if you itemize). Don't hesitate to contact us with any suggestions or questions; we are nimble and open to new ideas as a volunteer-run network.

Donate Any Amount

Do you either not have a BPS student, need a portion of your P-EBT funds to make ends meet, or have other mutual aid relationships? In that case, you are more than welcome to make a donation of any size!

Please also broadly share the campaign info and food program information with anyone in need of assistance.

How to Use the P-EBT Card>>>>

FAVOR is not associated with P-EBT in any way, but here is some information to get you started. Your student should have received a Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) card during the spring of 2020 or this past school year.
  • All K-12 students who received P-EBT this school year will receive a total of $375 in P-EBT benefits in two equal payments of $187.50. Multiple children, you get more! A family of 2 kids will get $750 in total this summer (and you got more last year that should still be on the card).
  • The payments were issued on July 1 and August 1.
  • You can check the amount on your card by entering the card number.
These funds will go directly to your P-EBT card or your SNAP/EBT card if you are enrolled in SNAP.
  • These funds can purchase groceries anywhere EBT or SNAP is accepted (includes online giants!).
  • When checking out at a store, click the "Food" or "Food Stamps" option, not the cash option, then enter your pin. That's it! Easier than a credit card, no need to sign. If you have non EBT items in your order, you just pay the difference easily after the EBT amount goes through. No one ask questions or makes judgments in any way.
  • You can download the Fresh EBT app to find nearby stores and farmer's markets that take EBT. Roslindale Farmer's Market, Village Market, and most Roslindale stores do!
  • You can get $5 extra for spending $5 on vegetables at the Daily Table in Roxbury & Dorchester.
If you have issues activating your card, have not received your P-EBT card, or have not received benefits, please call the DTA Assistance Line at 877-382-2363 or visit www.map-ebt.org/. Please note that using the P-EBT program will not affect your immigration application.
