Published on December 1, 2021 by MK McGrath

To all of our neighbours, backers and friends,

The Goose Green Solidarity Fund is now officially closed. Thank you all for your support over the course of the Fund’s life-span, we are so grateful to everyone who contributed. Any remaining monies will be donated to the Herne Hill Solidarity Fund.

We'll be monitoring the email address until the end of the year. If you wish to discuss the decision, need signposting for other resources, or have anything you'd like to share, get in touch at [email protected].

With our love, solidarity and gratitude,
Lily, Seth and MK

—————// previous notice below\\————

To all our backers, expensers, friends and neighbours,

After a lot of hard thinking over several months, the admins of the Goose Green Solidarity Fund have made the decision to close our fund.

We receive monthly recurring donations of £125, but have roughly £1000 worth of expenses submitted each month. With all three of our admins in full time work, we can't fundraise at a large enough scale to meet the deficit. While individual donations and fundraising have helped make up this deficit in previous times, we haven't been able to find a sustainable way of making sure there is enough money to help everyone, every month.

We are so grateful to every person that contributed to the fund – as a regular donor or a one off contribution, as individuals and as organisations. Thank you. We set this fund up as an emergency COVID response, and could have never imagined it would run for a year and a half. We would also like to thank the Goose Green Committee – neighbours who contributed regular feedback to how we ran the fund. Your insights and time were absolutely invaluable to the project.

For those of you who donate to us monthly, we highly recommend moving your contribution over to your next nearest fund – go to https://londonsolidarityfunds.org.uk/ to explore other funds in London.

We would also love to be able to fulfil all the expenses made in October – please consider a final donation so that we can do this.

We'll be monitoring the email address until the end of the year. If you wish to discuss the decision, need signposting for other resources, or have anything you'd like to share, get in touch at [email protected]. We understand this decision will disappoint a lot of you – we are sad to have made it.

Finally, we will be producing resources on how we set up the fund, and what we think can be improved about our processes, in case anyone else in SE22 would like to set up a similar or related fund in the future.

With our love, solidarity, and gratitude

Lily, Seth, MK
