About
Students4Climate Justice Uganda is a group of Ugandan student climate activists who are fighting to stop the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) from devastating the environment and violating human rights of local civilians.
In a country (Uganda) ruled by a dictator where all unauthorized protests are illegal, Students4Climate Justice Uganda aims to rally a critical mass of students to protect their communities and our climate through non violent risistance.
Currently we tend to run both online and in-person campaigns with the aim of raising masses. We want these supporters to join us to hold peaceful direct actions against EACOP and climate change.
We would need over 15.000 euro to help us do the following effectively:
1) Massively mobilise and recruit students and activists from different universities in Uganda.
2) Perform general assemblies and inform communities about the risks of the pipelines.
3) Mass leafleting on the streets.
4) Rapid response to support activists for: treatment, relocation and legal support when arrested.
5) Frequent training sessions for activists.
6) Setting up a media team and obtaining a group website.
7) Organising peaceful protests and demonstrations to express our opposition to the project.
