🛠️ Built (and Rebuilt) for the Commons
Published on June 4, 2025 by Matt Faherty

The InterCooperative Network (ICN) wasn’t forged in a startup incubator or birthed by a foundation. It’s the product of years spent thinking, building, scrapping, rethinking, rebuilding again—trying to imagine what it might take to create a real digital infrastructure for cooperation, not control.

It’s never been about perfection. It’s about possibility.

Now, we’re at the point where that possibility needs you. We’re looking for cooperatives, collectives, and communities willing to kick the tires, break things, offer feedback, and help us shape something that could serve the many, not the few.

ICN isn’t ready for prime time—and that’s the point. We don’t want to ship a finished product. We want to co-create a foundation: for federated governance, shared economics, and peer-to-peer coordination. A network where solidarity is real—not just rhetoric.

We’re not asking for money (though if you believe in the mission and feel like throwing a coin to the dev, it wouldn’t go unappreciated). What we really need are testers, builders, dreamers—co-ops that want to help build the future they wish existed.

It’s messy. It’s fragile. It’s real. And it’s for all of us.
