About
THE CHARGES AGAINST THE WFFP 9 HAVE BEEN DROPPED.
On 24 July 2024, the Met police violently arrested nine people at a WFFP protest outside of the FCDO in London denouncing the British government’s collusion with Israel.
More than a year later, on 29 July 2025, four of them were acquitted by a judge, who called the implementation of Section 14 conditions that day disproportionate and an infringement on the right to protest. On 13 August 2025, the remaining five were informed that all charges against them had been dropped.
WFFP is relieved and vindicated that the charges against our comrades, who have spent more than a year awaiting trial for standing up against Israel’s genocide in Palestine, have been dropped.
It has been crystal clear since the outbreak of the genocide that the police deliberately use widespread arrests as a tool to silence the pro-Palestine movement in Britain. At the behest of the government, police forces are using flimsy charges that often end up dismissed by judges, in a naked attempt to sow fear among those of us taking to the streets to denounce one of the worst atrocities of our lifetimes.
But the Palestine movement will not be deterred. Our demand remains an immediate and complete arms embargo against Israel and an end to British complicity with the Zionist entity.
WFFP is incredibly grateful for the solidarity our comrades have received as they faced the prospect of hefty legal fees and potential charges. In addition to words of support, hundreds of people have contributed to our arrestee legal fund since January, including more than £4,500 raised at our fundraiser event in the summer.
We commit to redistributing unused funds to other legal fundraisers within the movement. We will update this fundraiser page with further details as soon as possible.
Our demand remains the same: An immediate and complete arms embargo against Israel and an end to British complicity with the Zionist entity.
