Harvey - aka Octavia Edenbridge Short Film Premiere & Q&A
Melanin Vybz in collaboration with The Harvey Monologue present ‘Harvey’, a short film + Q&A featuring the fictional character Harvey. Harvey is a second generation of the Windrush Pioneers. He is a 70 year old black gay man living on a housing estate in a newly gentrified London neighbourhood, now in isolation and in his winter years. His satirical sense of humour and story telling sees his relationships with neighbours and his time living and cutting his back teeth in London and the gay scene. The Harvey Monologues is part of Project Harvey 2026, which aims to raise awareness of loneliness and isolation in the black and brown LGBTQIA+ older people community.
Let’s Talk Black & Brown Queerness is a timely conversation, facilitated by Melanin Vybz. It is a multigenerational guest panel spanning GenZ - Baby Boomers including audience engagement. The panel and audience will discuss and compare experiences as LGBTQIA+ black and brown people living in the 1960’s to the present day, and life as a marginalised minority within a minority. The conversation will include lived experiences of issues and celebrations of Identity, Connection, Loneliness & Isolation, Community, Visibility and Legacy. Content from the Let’s Talk Black & Brown Queerness conversation will be used to inform a final draft script for Harvey, a new play, by Richard Mark Thompson which will be performed in a London theatre in 2027.
Caribbean Cuisine
Melanin Vybz will create a Caribbean Sunday vibe. With a ‘nod’ to the ancestors, Melanin Vybz will serve-up a surprise Caribbean menu created by the legendary Twerk & Jerk.
Complimentary Rum Punch and a Reggae classics vibe from 1960-1980 will compliment a ‘back in the day’ atmosphere.
