First Public Demo and GitHub Repository Released
Published on March 16, 2026 by MetaCells Labs

Last week we started active development of MetaCell and published the first working version of the project on GitHub.
MetaCell is an open-source system where AI workflows live inside cells. Instead of spreading logic across scripts, prompts, and backend glue code, everything - formulas, AI prompts, files, connectors, and actions - exists directly in programmable cells. (GitHub)
We also created a working demo to show the core idea in action and to make it easier for developers to understand how the system works.
This is the beginning of the project, and development will happen in the open. We’re sharing early so the community can follow the progress, test ideas, and contribute.
Over the next weeks we’ll continue improving the runtime, adding new cell capabilities, and documenting the architecture.
If the idea resonates with you - follow the repo, try the demo, open issues, or contribute.
More updates soon.
