OrbitDB is a paradigm shift in database storage and replication and solves the problems of ownership, privacy and censorship inherent in centralized legacy server-client database systems.

OrbitDB is an eventually consistent database that uses Merkle-CRDTs for conflict-free database writes and replication. OrbitDB can be easily extended and customized with new data models, access controllers and allows for various self-sovereign identity providers and storage backends to be used.
