FarmOS Plans and Plan Templates

Plan templates give you the flexibility to easily create and quickly use common activities ('spring tillage', or 'corn after soybeans') by applying these template activities to many fields or plantings with a single click!

Description

Most activities on farms repeat from year to year or month to month
.  A corn planting consists of the same basic events in order - till, fertilize, seed, spray, harvest.  A leaf sampling regime consists of bi-weekly basic sap analysis, with every 2 months being a more detailed version of the test.  Currently, FarmOS does not make it easily to apply (or 'stamp') all these related activities on to a field, or on an existing planting, for a given time period.

Plan templates solves this problem, by allowing you to create a series of activities which are time ordered, and can be 'stamped' on to a field, planting, or even location starting at a specific time.  Once applied, each activity can be modified or removed as needed if and when changes happen throughout the season.

Outputs

1. Allow the creation of templates which can be 'stamped' on to fields or plantings.

2. Create tables to show the activities which came from the same template, enabling producers to see all of the 'Spring Tillage' logs easily in one list.

3. Show progress on a plan in the UI, allowing producers to see what is completed and what's next for a given plan.

Details

Mockup to create a crop plan, which can be assigned to many fields with a single click.  The components of the crop plan are themselves unique objects which can be tracked in FarmOS (so, 'show me all of the 'Nitrate Starter" activities happening this year, for example).

Mockup to display the progress of a plan in a given field.  Here the actual versus planned implementation dates are shown, and pending versus planned activities can be seen.  Pulling an item from 'planned' to 'pending' adds it to users task lists if assigned.

Budget and Timing

Budget and Timing for this and related features can be found below, along with who will be contributing and completion estimates.
This is part of a suite of features whose goal is help make FarmOS a more accessible, easy to use, and applicable to appropriate designed for typical production systems, like row crop, orchard, and scaled diversified veggie.  You can see and support all the features here.  More detail about current work towards these goals in gitlab can be found here.
