Hello! Joel and I are trying out OpenCollective as a means to manage the finances of the group. Previously I would cover the charge (Meetup, DNS, etc) and then would be reimbursed by the community. That was fine for years, but over the last few years has been more challenging, mostly because of the natural changes in the group. As a longtime pdxruby member & leader, I hope to see the group flourish, however I personally don't really use Ruby and have less time to be an active member of the group than is required by a leader.

I tested making a contribution and it was a pretty nice experience. I hope we can raise enough funds so I can be reimbursed for the most recent DNS registration, and I look forward to transitioning the financial responsibility to other members of the group!
