Thank You

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your support. The influx of donations over the past weeks has frankly been overwhelming. We've been able to temporarily house all former residents of The Quarry to at least give them safe & warm places to stay while they recuperate from the attack on their homes and decide where they want to go next. We've also funded trips to Cub Foods (for groceries) and Savers (for clothes), as well as a few hot meals and other basic necessities.
After noticing the surge in donations, we asked the former Quarry residents what they'd want us to collectively prioritize, and most agreed that housing should be #1, so we booked extended stays at hotels/AirBnB's.
Some also requested the leftover funds be used for cash assistance (ie, one-time payments from the Open Collective) to cover miscellaneous personal expenses like meals & bus fares. The Open Collective Foundation has a policy for using funds in this way, and we will be submitting a proposal today.
We will also be sunsetting this fund within the next week, and all recurring donation plans will be canceled starting 1/15/22. If you’d like to continue supporting unhoused folks in the Twin Cities, please donate to the Sanctuary Supply Depot. They do great work collecting and distributing all kinds of gear and basic necessities to those in need. https://linktr.ee/sanctuarysupplydepot
Thank you again for your support. It's been truly amazing to see how many people have rallied together in solidarity with our unhoused siblings. It makes me proud to be part of this community.
To quote one of my favorite protest chants: "Ain't no power like the power of The People, cus the power of The People don't stop!!"
