The mission of the R4DS Online Learning Community is to empower a diverse, friendly, and inclusive community of learners to build skills in data science. This September, we took the huge step of becoming a fiscally sponsored collective within the Open Collective Foundation.

We host & organize book clubs to read and discuss free, online, data-related books. We also help those clubs develop educational materials about those books. We had 49 clubs that held just shy of 600 1-hour meetings (all available on our YouTube channel) in 2023. The funds we have collected through the OCF have helped us pay for the infrastructure we use to host those clubs.

While we are still finalizing and prioritizing our plans for 2024, we know that there are a number of tools and resources that we would like to develop to continue to foster and grow our community. Watch this space for updates throughout the year!
