About
Our Ngā Hapū o Te Ahuahu, Waitangi Claims Working Rōpū are running two summer wānanga in 2024. The first one held Jan 26-29th January 2024 at Rawhitiroa Marae. And the second in later April (date tbc). These wānanga are to help us get to know our history, understand our connections to the lands, waters and documents that our hapū are connected to. This is a first step in a five step process our hapū collective supported.
We've also held wananga in April walking the whenua around Kerikeri, Waimate, Ohaeawai, Ngawha. Learning of some of the landwars, trade and historical stories pre & post the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
And in November we had shared korero around our waterways from Nana Ani who then took us to lake Omapere & Te Aranga Hou marae, aunty Dianna at Ngawha Springs. Sunday we went to Puketi Forest to wananga.
In 2025 we will continue to organise more wananga.
