We had an amazing time launching the Rogue Creators’ Fund in York back in April – a huge thanks to everyone who came along to support the event. Massive shoutout to PATCH York for hosting us and to York Creatives for helping organise and run the night.

The launch featured four brilliant local creators:
🎤 Henry Raby – performance poet
📸 Bodo Productions – stop-motion & toy photography
⌨️ Joel Wilson – York’s typewriter poet
🎬 James McGlade – filmmaker

We were also joined by sound engineer Jake Keating, who made everything sound great.
Together, we quietly distributed £205 to these featured artists – funded directly by ticket sales. That’s the Rogue Creators’ Fund in action: people contributing to support grassroots creativity, and artists being paid. Win!

After chatting with many of you, we’ve decided to step back from direct debits for now. If you’ve already set one up – that’s brilliant and we massively appreciate it! But we heard loud and clear that it was a barrier for some.

We’ve now switched to Stripe via Open Collective, making it easier to set up recurring contributions. Quick, simple, and transparent. We’ve adjusted our contribution tiers slightly to cover Stripe’s processing fees – so the fund still receives the full £1 from each member (not 76p if we covered the fees ourselves).

We’re hoping this helps us grow the fund faster – with the aim of supporting our first full project in June. Let’s make it happen.

We’re bringing the energy to Leeds for Launch 2.0 on Wednesday 19th June at The Attic, Sheaf Street.
Doors from 6pm – we’ll wrap up by 10pm. Expect more amazing creators, and remember:
🎟 Ticket sales = money for artists.
Tickets go live Friday 23rd May, so set an alarm!

Big thanks to The Attic for donating the venue and providing sound support – this kind of collaboration is what Rogue Creators is all about and we're extremely grateful to have such support from venues and organisations.
