Progress toward initial MVP is going well

Our current focus is in two directions. First, we’re working to establish the footprint and momentum of this project in general terms. Second, we’re defining our MVP path for an initial product, which is essentially a combination of an iOS app and a server component.

The iOS app is already quite functional, and so is the server component. Right now I’m hosting the server on a local machine, so one of the things we’re actively working through is figuring out the best options for hosting this online, and how to pay for that hosting through support for the project itself. The main reason is simple: we want to start offering services and enable beta testing without ongoing costs coming out of our own personal pockets (or anyone else’s), other than through voluntary support for the project.

Long term, we envision the server side of the solution as something that can be permanently supported and made available to people around the world who need it—especially those who deserve access to education but can’t afford it on their own. The goal is to make it easier for people to control their own future through education. We also hope to build a lasting support infrastructure for this through some kind of long-standing foundation, so this part of our mission can remain viable far into the future.

Our intent is to have a beta version of the app available through Apple’s TestFlight system very soon. We’ll start with a closed group of known participants for initial testing, and then expand to a larger beta group covering a wide range of scenarios. That broader testing will help us tighten quality, performance, and features, while also helping us understand real-world use cases as early as possible—so we can build a smarter roadmap and make better choices in the near future.
