Top Chef Shota Nakajima and other Top Chefs amazing benefit dinner for We Got This Seattle!
Published on November 23, 2021 by Ellen Y Kuwana

It's fitting that this post is about gratitude: huge thanks go out to Top Chefs who re-created Season 18's KOKOSAN restaurant dishes from the classic Restaurant Wars episode:
  • Shota Nakajima, Taku (Seattle)
  • Maria Mazon, BOCA Tacos (Tucson)
  • Jamie Tran, The Black Sheep (Las Vegas)
  • Byron Gomez, 7908 (Aspen)
The chefs created a 7-course dinner for 140 guests and entertained all with lively descriptions of the food, obvious affection for each other and camaraderie, and stories from the Top Chef experience. Guest emcee Chef Joe Sasto (Top Chef season 15 and season 17 All Stars) completed a fantastic evening and contributed an Italian almond cookie as a parting gift for guests.

A signature cocktail was provided by Campari USA; wines by Browne Family Vineyards, Lauren Ashton, and Gilbert Cellars; and caviar from Tsar Nicoulai Caviar (local white sturgeon caviar).

Proceeds will help We Got This Seattle provide security for our beloved International District late nights on weekends, an effort Chef Shota Nakajima started July 3, 2021, as another way to give back to Seattle and improve safety for residents and businesses in this important historic area of our city.

Thank you, all, for your time, creativity, energy, and amazing generosity!
Together, we create community—and let our essential workers know that they are appreciated.
