End of Year Update
Published on December 21, 2022 by Annie McHugh
2022 has been a year of abundance for West Side Mutual Aid! We continue to deliver groceries to over 150 families across Chicago's West Side every week, working to cultivate food sovereignty and autonomy in coordination with the Chicagoland Food Sovereignty Coalition. Our funding allows us the flexibility and adaptability to cater to the individual needs of our neighbors.
We are extraordinarily grateful for all of the donations received this year and especially grateful for the folks who donated through Matt's page, a WSMA volunteer we lost to cancer in 2022. With the abundance of donations we are working on ways to better support our drivers and build our volunteer community. We will be working on recruiting and retaining volunteers to help with food rescue, bag build, food delivery, and all of the odds and ends that get the work done.
Looking forward, our focus will be on sustainability. We want to be a stable resource for our community for many years to come and will focus our efforts on this in the new year.
