Wow! On Thursday, our city councillors voted to change the zoning rules in Wellington and say yes more homes. Councillors rejected the Independent Hearings Panel’s many sketchy recommendations, and introduced a slew of pro-housing amendments that wentabove and beyond the City for People asks.
This is a huge victory. The new District Plan will enable thousands of new homes, in the right places. We are now waiting on Minister Chris Bishop to confirm the Plan will go ahead. It is expected that he will say yes to everything or almost everything the council voted for.
