Hello Fridge Friends,

Abq Free Fridge founder Veve here, and I wanted to introduce all of our super kick-butt volunteers and supporters to our newest fridge friend– Kaleigh Campbell. Kaleigh is a middle school student and Girl Scout, and when she found out about Abq Free Fridge she wanted to help out our community. She did that by reaching out to other troops in Albuquerque asking for donations, as well as setting up the cutest fridge-style donation box. This donation box is up at Girl Scouts of the New Mexico Trails until April 16th in case you'd like to drop off a shelf stable food item or a personal care item for the Fridge.

ABQ Free Fridge is a mutual aid group working to place community refrigerators and pantries across Albuquerque. ABQ Free Fridge is a community fridge and cupboard helping to combat hunger with free, healthy food and other essential items. I wanted to ensure that New Mexico families, seniors and children have enough to eat and enough supplies to help them in this time of great need. I am so fortunate to have hot meals and plenty of food in my house. I wanted to do something to help the less fortunate in our community.  

ABQ Free fridge is free and open to everyone and highlights the importance of our mission as Girl Scouts to serve our community. Anyone who needs food can take some with no strings attached. 

During COVID-19, I have done research and I have learned that food banks are at capacity.  I wanted to get Girl Scouts together in our community to help gather food and personal hygiene donations and to raise awareness regarding food insecurity.  It only takes a little to do a lot. I appreciate your support of my Silver Award Project.
