Thank you for your patience, this month’s issue is nearly here!

Hi team, A quick hello and a big thank you for your patience and your contributions. We took a bit longer with our monthly newsletter, so we could add a couple of treats and make sure everything is clear, useful, and easy to share. As a tha...

🚨 We need £500 to make Al Adli official - can you help?

We’re on the verge of something huge -registering Al Adli as a Community Interest Company (CIC). This means we can do more, protect our work, and get proper funding to support our communities better. But it'll cost...

Donate, share, or join our workshops - every action counts.

Why support power-building over charity?

Published on July 17, 2025 by Al-Adli Admin

Because real change comes from community strength, not handouts.

What would legal support and knowledge mean for you or your community right now?

Access to legal tools can change lives - help us make that a reality.

About

Al-Adli Justice is a volunteer legal collective and mutual aid network in Britain. We began at a library desk with a cracked mug, a notebook and a pomegranate. We grew into a pool of support, a workshop calendar and a stack of guides that anyone can use.

We exist to help end systems of harm shaped by capitalism and racism. We call this work community defence. It is practical. It is everyday. It is built by many hands.

What we do
  • Casework: letters that land, timelines that calm, community referrals. Housing, employment, immigration, family, criminal, court support. A pool of McKenzie Friends for support in the courtroom.
  • Education: workshops and 14+ free guides and zines in plain language, high-contrast, translation-ready.
  • Community work: court-support shifts, meals and clothing where needed, the Language Exchange, local partnerships, an emergency hotline.

How we hold the line
We read how harm moves through policy, culture and procurement. We track the routes: insurance, ports, data centres, contracts, grants. Then we reroute money and support to people, not punishment. We favour care over punishment, community over surveillance, material solutions over carceral myths.

Faith is craft, not theatre. Shura for decisions. Hurma and karama for privacy and dignity. No tajassus, no corrosive zann. All non-zakat gifts are sadaqah jariyah for our three strands. Zakat is ring-fenced and paid to eligible people. Our measure is the maqasid: life, mind, dignity, family, livelihood. If a plan does not reduce harm without cages or cameras, we cut it.

How you help
Most people start at Court Buddy £9. Many choose Guide Builder £15. Both keep the work moving this week. Give now. Invite one friend. Join a shift. We will do the steady work and keep the records clean.
