Alpine Linux

A security-oriented, lightweight Linux distribution

About

Welcome to the Alpine Linux project! We are a community that creates a lightweight and secure Linux distribution. Our goal is to provide a distribution for the community, supported by the community.

A distribution requires a lot of resources. Mirrors require a lot of storage and bandwidth. Builders require a significant amount of CPU, memory and storage. Services like Gitlab require a reliable platform.

To keep our project running, we need your help! Alpine Linux is receiving generous support in the form of hardware and services from a couple of sponsors, which we immensely appreciate. But in order to make the project sustainable and improve continuity, we wish to diversify the ways the project is supported.

Donations will be used in various ways:

  • Cover infrastructure needs, like hosting our website, paying for bandwidth, and buying hardware. This support is essential for us to continue our work and to make sure that Alpine Linux remains available to all.
  • Pay for events and swag, which helps us to hold in-person conferences, hackathons and other activities that help to improve Alpine Linux and keeping a strong community.

The funds will not be used to compensate any contributors directly at the moment. If this policy changes in the future, we will notify the community.

Donating to Alpine Linux does not mean you will receive priority support or influence the priority of the work being done. Your contributions help us maintain our infrastructure, but they do not guarantee personal assistance or services. We believe in being open and honest about how we use the funds.

By supporting Alpine Linux, you are helping a project that values community, security, and simplicity. Together, we can keep building a great operating system for everyone. Your support, no matter how small, will be appreciated.
